How VA Health Chat can help

With VA Health Chat, many Veterans enrolled in VA health care can quickly connect with a VA staff member. Caring VA staff can provide medical advice for non-life-threatening health issues, schedule VA appointments, refill VA prescriptions, and more. Try VA Health Chat if you’re looking for immediate answers on the topics below:

  • Non-life-threatening injuries or illnesses, like congestion, rash, or stomachache

  • Questions about your VA prescriptions

  • Scheduling a VA appointment

VA Health Chat availability

VA Health Chat is available only to Veterans at select locations. You can confirm that VA Health Chat is available to you by visiting the VA App Store. Select your state from the drop-down menu to find your VA health care system, VA medical center, or VA clinic. If your location isn’t listed, please check back monthly. VA is expanding this service rapidly.

How to use VA Health Chat

You can chat with a VA staff in most participating locations Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., local time, excluding federal holidays. In some locations, staff are available 24/7.

To access the app, visit the VA Health Chat page or sign in to My HealtheVet. A blue VA Health Chat message box will appear in the lower right corner of My HealtheVet if the app is available to you.

In 2025, you'll need to use a Login.gov or ID.me account to sign in to My HealtheVet and other VA tools.
