Forgot Password Help
To reset your Password, you must have a My HealtheVet account with a My HealtheVet User ID and Password.
If you try to sign in with the correct User ID but enter the wrong Password more than four times, your account will be locked for 30 minutes.
Note: The Help Desk cannot unlock your account. But you can ask for a temporary Password.
For a temporary password made by the computer, call the My HealtheVet Help Desk Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at 1-877-327-0022 or 1-800-877-8339 (TTY) (Central Time).
Note: Your temporary Password will only work for three hours after it is given to you.
Tips before resetting your Password:
Select the Show link to see what you are typing
There is a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 12 characters
Use a combination of alphabetic letters and numbers
Use one special character such as ! @ # ^ & *
Spaces are not allowed
You cannot use these special characters < > / \ ‘ “ $ % ?
Your Password cannot be the same as your User ID
Your Password cannot be the same as your last three Passwords
Your Password is case sensitive
To reset your Password, complete the steps on the Forgot My HealtheVet Password page.
Complete the process below to retrieve your My HealtheVet Password.
Step 1. Personal Information
Enter your User ID, first name, last name, birth date and birth sex as it appears in your My HealtheVet account or in your VA DOD record.
Step 2. Password Hint Questions
The answers to the questions are case sensitive. The answers to both questions cannot be the same.
Step 3. Reset Your Password
Enter your new Password twice and use the Show link to see what you are typing.
Once you successfully enter your Password twice, it will show your User ID on the screen. You can login using your new Password.
Note: If you have an email address on file with My HealtheVet, a notification of the new Password will be sent.
